MEET JOANNA FRACZEK

Joanna Fraczek was born and raised in Poland. She earned a Master of Law degree from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in 2007 and then immigrated to the Milwaukee area.

When she arrived in Milwaukee, Joanna supported herself working in retail, cleaning houses and providing childcare while she worked her way into the legal field. In 2009 she earned a paralegal certificate from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She then interned with the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office and went on to work as a paralegal in the Milwaukee City Attorney's Office.

Joanna passed the Wisconsin Bar in 2013 and became an Assistant City Attorney. She handled civil matters and liens and represented the City in Municipal Court. In 2018 she entered private practice, focusing on civil litigation, mediation and family law for clients across Wisconsin. In 2023 she returned to the Milwaukee City Attorney's Office, where she serves the City of Milwaukee

Joanna is active in the Milwaukee community. She takes part in the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, the Polish Heritage Alliance, Professional Dimensions, TEMPO and the Benedict Center. She belongs to several bar associations. She has also served on the boards of the Association for Women Lawyers and the Washington Heights Neighborhood Association.

As a Judge, Joanna will be fair, experienced, and lead on public safety through compassionate leadership. She believes in supporting victims, holding offenders accountable and using restorative justice.

Joanna speaks Polish, English and Russian. She and her daughter attend St. Sebastian Catholic Parish.
